BAND MEMBERS AT THE TIME

Goodridge, Dave Parsons, Nigel Pulsford, Gavin Rossdale
FUN FACT
The
band has had great success abroad but is not very popular in their native
England.
ABOUT THE SONG
A
machine head is the top of a guitar, where the strings get tuned, but in this
case is a metaphor for heroin. Or it’s about letting go of one’s ego. Or it’s
an ode to poet Allen Ginsburg. (Rossdale's lyrics are known for being confusing.)
LYRICS
Breathe
in, breathe out
Breathe in, breathe out
Breathe in
Tied to a wheel
My fingers got to feel
Bleeding through a tourniquet smile
I spin on a whim
I slide to the right
I felt you like electric light
For our love
For our fear
For our rise against the years and years and years
Got a machinehead
It’s better than the rest
Green to red
I walk from my machine
Deaf, dumb, and thirty
Starting to deserve this
Leaning on my conscience wall
Blood is like wine
Unconscious all the time
If I had it all again, I’d change it all
(I’ve seen the best minds of my generation
They are starving, hysterical, and naked)
I walk from my machine.
